Eva Marisaldi became known about fifteen years ago for her multimedia work,
which includes fabric and plaster sculptures, cartoons, videos, sewn objects,
toys… The formulation and materials used often appear fragile and, above all, subtle due to their analogical and poetic nature.

A series of nine spray-painted drawings on pink fabric are accompanied by objects bearing
eyes. Abandoned decorative objects, they seem to form a kind of lottery. The artist refers to her encounter with a film by Buster Keaton, co-directed with Samuel Beckett, in which the character in an empty apartment is scrutinised by objects.

Behind a grey curtain bearing the design of a grid, we discover a video of characters in groups or alone, wearing furs. The camera zooms in on the actors, seeming to caress the coats with its gaze, the eye drawn to the tactile, to the desire to touch. The softness of the images is punctuated by the music of composer Enrico Serotti.

This exhibition reformulates the essential issue of the viewer’s place at the very heart of the visual arts.
